Our First Day in DC!

Hello everybody, Today was our first day in washington D.C. I would say it's going graet so far!!! I mean, I have never seen so manyfamous sights in one day...in fact in my whole life ;) Our busdriver, Darren "Big Daddy" drove us without any complains trough the entire city. Together with out tourguide, Cecelia, we visited the Korean and the Vietnam War Veterans Memorials, the U.S. Capitol Building, the Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Memorial and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial ( and that after only about 300 years of existence :) ). Of course we also went to see the White House!!! It actually is smaller than it always seems on TV. It is stillprtty impressive with its 135 rooms, 35 bathrooms and 400 something doors (the poor person who had to count all that :(. A very big deal at this time of the vear are the blooming cherryblossom trees. They were a gift from the nice people of Japan, as a symbole of friendship!!! (thank you, imoto :D) Absolutly important was also our lunch-shopping trip. We went to the D.C. Mall, which is huge. And I mean huge for American standarts. And it has a very pretty glass cealing. After that we went to the pentagon. But be carefull!!! It is strictly forbidden to walk straight, you have to walk in curbes, otherwise you get almost arrested by the police for treason ;) There we saw a memorial for the poeple who died in the plane crash of Sept. 11 2001. One of the planes targeted the pentagon, but the passengers on board overcame the terrorist and managed to crash land it in a field. To never forget the effort of those, the government errected a memorial. The last point on our list today was dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, which is always a fun experience, but even better when you get cookies :D I guess that's it for today. But what will happen tomorrow? Something fun? Something tragic? Something dramatic? Stay with us for the latest news ;D Marie- Germany
